Fire alert!

What do the following have in common: Bideford Hospital and a flat above a pub on Ilfracombe High Street?
They have all have a visit from the fire brigade in the last week to put out a fire.
Luckily they had working fire alarms and no-one was hurt. If you take a look at the statistics from the Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service you can see we have our fair share of fires here in North Devon, possibly because many businesses are housed in older properties which can be more susceptible to fire.
Fire is a company’s worst enemy. The disruption a fire can cause to a business is huge, not just in terms of potential loss of life or damaged buildings, but also in terms of data that can be lost and key business equipment destroyed.
The Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 means that any person who has some level of control in premises must take reasonable steps to reduce the risk from fire and make sure people can safely escape if there is a fire.
The order applies to virtually all premises and covers nearly every type of building, structure and open space. For that reason everyone should have a suitable fire detection and warning system.
But often people are too busy running their business to worry about something that may never happen…until it does.
We have over twenty years’ experience in North Devon of installing fire alarms, so call us today for an informal chat on 01271 342 560 or visit our website on
